Higher Heating Value of Sewage Sludge
Mikluš, Michal ; Bělohradský, Petr (referee) ; Houdková, Lucie (advisor)
The thesis is focused on problems of thermal treatment of sludge from wastewater treatment plants. The main objective is to establish a formula for calculating higher heating value (HHV) and lower heating value (LHV) of sludge based on its chemical analysis. The work is divided into two main parts: The theoretical part deals with the characteristics of sludge, thermal treatment of sludge, it isn´t omitted higher heating value and lower heating value. The main topic of a practical part is formulation of eguations for HHV and LHV calculation. Chemical analysis of sludge samples were supplied by TÜV NORD Czech s.r.o., together with the values of HHV and LHV. The calculations were verified by the program MINITAB.
Comparison of methods of determination of LHV and HHV
Jahn, Jiří ; Lisý, Martin (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the comparison of the accuracy of the determine of the higher heating value and lower heating value using the equations. The calculation is based on the contents of samples in the fuel, ie from the data obtained by ultimate analysis. Higher heating value and lower heating value of each fuel type was obtained by calorimeter measurement and considered to be the exact value of the fuel. The output of the work is the evaluation of suitability and accuracy of the examined equations and introduction equations appropriate for biomass.
Biomass preparation and combustion technologies
Venhoda, Tomáš ; Recman, Milan (referee) ; Juřena, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of this work is to provide for background research about preparation and combustion of biomass. Technologies for preparation of biomass including ingathering prior to combustion are described in the first part of this work. Different ways combustion of biomass and comparison of different types of grates are in the second part of the thesis.
Burning pellets from non-wood biomass in boilers I
Knob, Jan ; Zejda, Vojtěch (referee) ; Brummer, Vladimír (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with combustion of non-woody biomass pellets in boilers. In the first part of the background research, biomass is generally described in terms of fuel properties, with a focus on characteristics determining its suitability for a direct combustion in boilers and undesirable emissions. In this context, planned legislative restrictions of boilers with a lower operating power are summarized. Furthermore the usage of the automatic boilers, and specific problems associated with combustion of non-woody pellets are described. Final part of the background research focuses on a composition of commercially available non-woody pellets and their production. Experimental part consists of fuel analysis determining the general properties of the biofuel - i.e. the water and ash content, essential content of elements, lower and higher heating values. Results of analysis are used to put together fuel lists of tested pellets. Conclusion of the experimental part discusses the influence of the pellet composition on the boiler functionality and emissions.

Computational tool for processing of production data from waste-to-energy systems
Machát, Ondřej ; Šomplák, Radovan (referee) ; Touš, Michal (advisor)
This thesis contains evaluation of crucial operational indicators of a waste-to-energy plant. Above all, it is lower heating value of municipal solid waste and boiler efficiency. An approach for evaluation improvement by mathematical methods is proposed. The approach is implemented in a computational tool developed in Microsoft Excel. The approach is tested and subsequently used for operational data from a real waste-to-energy plant.

Spalné teplo a výhřevnost vybraných energetických trav stanovení na základě elementární analýzy
SEDLÁKOVÁ, Aneta
Renewable energy sources are largely represented by biomass energy, which is then used in many ways. Among the most common are the phytomass direct combustion to heating. For these purposes, in many cases growned Reed canary grass, which could compete with other, more efficient energy grass Szarvasi -1. Aim of this work is to compare the suitability of selected energy grasses (Phalaris arundinacea L. and Elymus elongatus subsp. Ponticus cv. Szarvasi-1) for purposes of direct combustion in terms of the energy yield of the unit of production and unit of area under various intensities of fertilization.
